Zachary David  Alexander  Efron aka Zac Efron is an American  actor and singer. He also appeared in Hairspray (2007) and 17 Again (2009), as well as New Year’s Eve (2011), The Lucky One (2012), The Paperboy (2012), Neighbors (2014), Dirty Grandpa (2016), Baywatch (2017), and The Greatest Showman (2017). 

Early Life & Biography

Zac Efron saw world on 18 Oct, 1987 in  San Luis  Obispo, California to parents  David Efron and  Starla Baskett. His father was an electrical engineer  at Diablo Canyon  power Plant and mother was an  administrative assistant at Diablo  Canyon.  In 2006, Efron graduated from Arroyo Grande High School and was accepted to the University of Southern California, but he did not attend. He also played in 2000 and 2001 at Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, a theatre company based out of Allan Hancock Institution, a community college in Santa Maria, California.


Zac Efron’s acting career started in 2000  with guest roles on television series- Firefly, ER, The Guardian. In the first season of the WB series Summerland, he debuted as a recurrent character in 2004. He was elevated to the main cast of the second season in 2005. With the teen musical television film High School Musical (2006), which premiered on the Disney Channel in January 2006, Efron’s career reached a turning point. Efron next starred as Link Larkin in Hairspray (2007), a musical comedy film based on the 2002 Broadway musical of the same name. Later that year, he returned to the Disney Channel in August 2007 to reprise his role as Troy Bolton in High School Musical 2 (2007). In High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008), Efron reprised his role as Troy Bolton, the first film in the High School Musical trilogy to be released in theatres. Following that, he directed the commercially successful comedy 17 Again (2009), about a 37-year-old guy (Matthew Perry) who is converted into his 17-year-old self (Zac Efron) due to a freak accident.

Richard Linklater’s period drama Me and Orson Welles, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2008, was Efron’s next release. Following that, he starred as Charlie St. Cloud in the supernatural romantic drama Charlie St. Cloud (2010). Efron next starred in Garry Marshall’s New Year’s Eve as part of a big ensemble cast (2011). He also appeared in Liberal Arts (2012), a critically acclaimed film that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2012. He also appeared in The Paperboy alongside Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey, David Oyelowo, and John Cusack.Following his role as the male lead in the commercially successful computer-animated picture The Lorax (2012), he starred in the romantic drama The Lucky One (2012), based on Nicholas Sparks’ novel of the same name. He also starred in the 2012 Venice International Film Festival debut of the drama At Any Price and the 2013 Venice International Film Festival premiere of the historical drama Parkland.Efron starred alongside Seth Rogen in the adult comedy Neighbors (2014). We Are Your Friends (2015), Efron’s only release in 2015, was a mildly successful film in which he played a struggling DJ. In January 2016, he co-starred in the adult comedy Dirty Grandpa starring Robert De Niro. He then appeared in the comic sequel Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising alongside Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, and Chloe Grace Moretz. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, his third 2016 comedy, was released in July, and he co-starred alongside Adam DeVine (as siblings), Anna Kendrick, and Aubrey Plaza.In 2017, Efron starred in Baywatch, an action comedy film based on the same-named television series. In the same year, Efron appeared in supporting roles in two biographical films: The Disaster Artist, a comedy-drama directed by and starring James Franco, and The Greatest Showman, as Phillip, opposite Hugh Jackman. In the Harmony Korine film The Beach Bum, Efron starred with Matthew McConaughey as a drug-addled libertine. In Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, he played serial killer Ted Bundy alongside Lily Collins, who played Bundy’s lover. For the Netflix web documentary series Down to Earth with Zac Efron, he earned a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Daytime Program Host in 2021.
