Joey Batey is an actor, musician, singer, and composer from the United Kingdom. He is most recognised for his role as Jaskier, a bard in the Netflix fantasy series The Witcher.
Joey Batey was born on 1 January, 1989 in New Castle upon Tyne. He did his schooling from Robinson College Cambridge and L’École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq.
He started his career as a co-writer of the sketch show “Good Clean Men” amd stay connected to music industry. His first debut film was “ Mother on the home front” in 2013. In 2014, he starred in Lone Scherfig’s film The Riot Club. In 2017, he was cast as Eddie in Paul McGuigan’s film Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool. Batey has previously appeared in the British television shows Strike (2017) and In The Dark (2017). Batey is the primary writer and composer for the indie folk band The Amazing Devil, as well as a vocalist and musician. Love Run (2016) and The Horror and the Wild (2017) are two of the band’s albums (2020). In 2017-2018, he played Pierre, a spy seeking information about the Holy Grail, in the series Knightfall, a 14th century period piece centred on the Knights Templar. Batey was still playing the bard, Jaskier, in Netflix’s version of The Witcher, based on the Polish novel series of the same name, as of 2021.
