Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa is an American actor as well filmmaker. In the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Momoa plays Arthur Curry / Aquaman, starring in the eponymous 2018 film and its 2023 sequel. Momoa also appeared in the 2021 film adaptation of the science fiction novel Dune as Duncan Idaho.
Early Life & Biography
Jason Momoa was born on August 1979 in Honolulu, Hawaii to father Joseph Momoa , a painter and mother Coni, a photographer. He was raised by his mother in Norwalk , Iowa.
Career
In 1998, he started his modelling career, Takeo Kobayashi and designer Eric Chandler discovered Momoa.He also worked part-time in a surf shop before being cast as Jason Ioane (1999–2001) in the action drama series Baywatch Hawaii. Momoa was cast as Roman in four episodes of the comedy-drama television series The Game, in addition to his roles in Johnson Family Vacation (2004) and Stargate: Atlantis (2005–2009). (2009). In Conan the Barbarian, he played the title character (2011).
Momoa directed and co-wrote the American drama thriller film Road to Paloma (2014) with writers Jonathan Hirschbein and Robert Homer Mollohan. Momoa joined the cast of the dark comedy/thriller indie Sugar Mountain in March 2014, alongside Cary Elwes and Haley Webb; principal photography took place in Alaska. He also appeared in the SundanceTV drama series The Red Road (2014–2015) as Phillip Kopus, a Ramapough Mountain Indian.
Momoa was reported to have been cast in the role of Aquaman in June 2014. He first appeared in the superhero film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as a cameo. Momoa portrayed the character in the 2017 ensemble film Justice League. He then appeared in the solo Aquaman film, which was released in late 2018. He also played this character again in The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.
Momoa played Connor in the Canadian horror action film Wolves in 2014, and she also appeared in the sci-fi horror film Debug. Momoa was cast in the Canadian action film Braven in 2015. He joined the official Just Cause film series in early 2017. Momoa portrayed Declan Harp in all three seasons of the Canadian historical drama television series Frontier and was an executive producer on the show from 2016 to 2018. Momoa was cast in Apple’s post-apocalyptic drama series See in July 2018.
Momoa was cast as Duncan Idaho in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune in 2019. Momoa appeared in a Rocket Mortgage Super Bowl LIV halftime commercial in 2020. He also appeared in the teaser for Ozzy Osbourne’s album Ordinary Man’s song “Scary Little Green Men.” In 2022, it was announced that Momoa would play the villain in the tenth Fast & Furious film, Fast X, produced and starring Vin Diesel.
In April 2022, it was announced that Momoa will star in the Minecraft film adaptation, which will be directed by Jared Hess.

Jason was married to actress Lisa Bonet in 2017 after 18 years of relationship. The couple had two children one daughter was born in 2007 and a son born in 2008. But in 2022 Momoa and Bonet announced the end of their marriage.
