Jamie Bartlett was a South African actor. He was born on 9 July 1966 in Maidenhead, England.He completed his school education from London School of Economics and was graduated from University of Oxford.
Bartlett performed at the Market Theatre, where he had strong ties during the Apartheid era. Mannie Manim and Barney Simon founded the theatre in 1976. In 1986, Bartlett’s professional career began with Cock and Bull Story, in which he played a gay boxer and won a Vita Award for Most Promising Actor.In 1987, Bartlett won the Fleur du Cap Theatre Award for Best Actor for his performance in the satire play East. Neil McCarthy directed him in Rainshark at the Market Theatre in 1990. In 1997, Neil McCarthy directed Bartlett in Mojo at the Market Theatre, where he won the Vita Best Actor Award. Bartlett returned to the Market Theater in 2011 to play the lead role of an eccentric 60-something history teacher in Death of a Colonialist, for which he won the 2010 Naledi Theatre Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Lead Role.
Bartlett started his career in movies in action sequel film American Ninja 2 and in American Ninja 5 in 1987 and 1993 alongside Michael Dudikoff and Steve James. In the 2004 British film drama Red Dust, directed by Academy Award winner Tom Hooper, Bartlett played Dirk Hendricks, a local police officer, opposite Hilary Swank. Bartlett appeared as Crawford, a professional hunter and guide, in the 2007 horror thriller Prey. Bartlett appeared in the children’s parable White Lion in 2010, alongside fellow South African Best Actor Tony Award Winner John Kani and Thabo Malema. SAFTA Awards were given to the film for Best Cinematography in a Feature Film, Best Music Composition in a Feature Film, and Best Sound Design in a Feature Film.
Bartlett was married to actress Camilla Waldman but later they divorced and couple had a con, Hector. Jamie Bartlett died suddenly on 23 May,2022. His cause of death is not yet found.
