James Martin Lafferty is an American actor, director and producer. He is famous from his character of Nathan Scott on the WB/CW teen drama television series One Tree Hill from 2003-2012.
James was born on 25 Jul, 1985 in Hemet, California to parents Angelica and Jeffrey Lafferty who owns a local construction company. James has one younger brother. Actor Stuart Lafferty. Since then, Lafferty has made guest appearances on shows like Once and Again, Get Real, and Boston Public. In 2002, Lafferty starred in the ESPN made-for-television film A Season on the Brink, which was based on John Feinstein’s book of the same name. Lafferty had his breakthrough as Nathan Scott on The WB/The CW’s teen drama series One Tree Hill in 2003. The series follows Nathan and Lucas Scott, two estranged half-brothers who are forced to play on the same basketball team, threatening Nathan’s position as the standout player. The CW renewed the show for a ninth and final season in May 2011, with Lafferty opting for a recurring part rather than a full-time leading position. Lafferty was cast in the direct-to-DVD sequel to the cult film Donnie Darko in February 2008. The film, titled S. Darko, was released in May 2009 to largely unfavourable reviews from critics. In April 2011, Lafferty was confirmed to star in Wild Life: A New Generation of Wild, a planned adventurous reality television series for which he was an executive producer, alongside One Tree Hill castmate Stephen Colletti and brother Stuart Lafferty. In 2013, Lafferty was cast as Mr Nash in the NBC crime drama Crisis.In April 2011, Lafferty was confirmed to star in Wild Life: A New Generation of Wild, a planned adventurous reality television series for which he was an executive producer, alongside One Tree Hill castmate Stephen Colletti and brother Stuart Lafferty. In 2013, Lafferty was cast as Mr Nash in the NBC crime drama Crisis. Following that, he landed the lead role of Jimmy Adams in the independent film Waffle Street, alongside Danny Glover, and a recurring role on WGN America’s slave drama Underground for the first season. Lafferty helmed an episode of E! drama series The Royals’ second season in August 2015, and he returned to direct a couple more episodes during season three.
