Ian Somerhalder is an American actor and model. He is famous for playing the role of Boone Carlyle in the TV programme Lost, Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries on The CW, and Dr. Luther Swann in Netflix’s sci-fi horror thriller V Wars.
Biography
Ian was born on 8 December, 1978 in Covington, Louisiana. His father Robert Somerhalder is an independent building contractor and mother Edna a massage therapist. He faced difficult childhood because his parents always fought with each other. When he was 13, his parents divorced which reflects negative impact on him. After parent’s divorce he started living with his mother who always encourage him for to start career in modelling. He has two siblings- an older brother Robert and younger sister Robyn. He went to Saint Paul’s Institution in Covington, which is a private school. From the age of ten to thirteen, he pursued a modelling career, and by the age of seventeen, he had decided to pursue a career in acting.
Career
Somerhalder starred in the short-lived WB sitcom Young Americans, a spin-off of Dawson’s Creek, in the summer of 2000. Hamilton Fleming, the son of the dean of a prominent boarding school, was played by him. Somerhalder co-starred opposite James Van Der Beek, Shannyn Sossamon, and Jessica Biel in Roger Avary’s adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ novel The Rules of Attraction in 2002.Somerhalder’s breakout role came in 2004 when he played Boone Carlyle in the hit TV drama Lost. Despite the fact that his character died in the twentieth episode of the first season, Somerhalder reprised his role as Boone for seven additional episodes between 2005 and 2010, including the series finale. Somerhalder starred as an assassin in the 2009 film The Tournament, in which he competed against other assassins in a murderous competition. Somerhalder was cast as Vampire Damon Salvatore in The CW television drama series The Vampire Diaries as a series regular in June 2009. In the third season of The Vampire Diaries, Somerhalder began directing the show, and in the eighth season, he became the show’s producer.
