Biography
Henry Cavill was born on 5 May 1983 in Saint Helier, Jersey. His mother Marianne Dalgliesh, a secretary in bank and father Colin Cavill , a stockbroker. His mother was from Jersey and father from Chester, England. Before attending Stowe School in Stowe, Buckinghamshire, he attended St Michael’s Preparatory School in Saint Saviour, Jersey. Cavill met actor Russell Crowe, who was shooting on location at Stowe for the film Proof of Life, while playing rugby in 2000.
Career
Cavill made his movie debut in Laguna (2001), a Kevin Reynolds rendition of The Count of Monte Cristo (2002). He resumed his acting career with roles in BBC’s The Inspector Lynley Mysteries (2002), the television film Goodbye, Mr. Chips (2002), and the BBC’s Midsomer Murders (2003). He first appeared in I Capture the Castle in 2003, and then in Hellraiser: Hellworld (2005), Red Riding Hood (2006), and Tristan & Isolde (2006). In Matthew Vaughn’s adaption of Stardust, he played a minor role (2007). Cavill starred as Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk in Showtime’s television series The Tudors from 2007 to 2010. Cavill was cast as Sherlock Holmes in Legendary Entertainment’s cinematic adaption of The Enola Holmes Mysteries on June 27, 2019, alongside Millie Bobby Brown in the title role. On May 13, 2021, it was reported that he would return to the character of Enola Holmes in Enola Holmes 2.
