Early Life and Biography
Flavor Fav his professional name, his real name is William Jonathan Drayton Jr. He came in the world on 15 March, 1959 to parents William Sr. and Anna Drayton. At the age of 5 he started playing he piano, drum, guitar. He completed his school education from Freeport High School. In college he met Carlton Ridenhour, where they started rapping together after working together on Chuck D’s hip-hop college radio show.
Career
After collaboration with Chuck D, they along founded a group “Public Enemy”. Following year the group released a single “Public Enemy #1”. The song was a big hit, and it helped the band become noticed by famous music producers like Rick Rubin and Def Jam Records. However, Rubin only wanted to sign Chuck as a solo artist since he didn’t realise the value of Flav, but due to Chuck’s persistence, the duo was signed together.
The group’s first album was published by Def Jam Records in 1987. Yo, Bum Rush the Show was the title of the record, which highlighted the group’s chemistry. Chuck was a serious rapper, whereas Fav was the group’s comedian.
The group’s major hit album was published in 1988. Public Enemy became a global superstar after the publication of It Takes a Nation of Millions. The album was certified twice platinum.
Their music began to gain popularity around the world, and in 1989, they produced another political track, “Fight The Problem.”
Flavor Flav’s solo fame coincided with the band’s triumph when he released the single “911 is a Joke” in 1990. In 1999, he had another solo hit with “1 2 3 Rhymes Galore,” a collaboration with DJ Temekk and Grandmaster Flash.
However, he did not record a solo song until 2006, titled Flavor Flav. There was no fresh information on Fav and Public Enemy’s music together until March 2020, when the band announced that they had broken up and that Public Enemy and Flav would be parting ways.
Personal Life
Flavor Fav’s marital status is married. He was married four times. In year 1986 he was married to Karen Ross. But after sometime, in 1991 their relationship collapsed and couple obsessed with having three children. Three years later he got married to Angie Parker and had three children as well.
After that he started dating Beverly Johnson , thet started living together with their children . Beverly has also two children from her previous marriage. Flav spent weeks of jail in 2002 for driving while his license was suspended , receiving many parking citations, missing probation appointments. After his release from prison, Flav split up with Johnson and moved in with his mother on Long Island.
In 2003 he met Elizabeth Trujillo , got engaged in 2008. Couple have one son- Karma. As of year 2012 they lived together in Los Angeles.
