Douglas Dale Christie is an American professional basketball coach and former player. He used to be an NBC Sports California announcer for the Kings.
Early Life & Biography
Doug Christie was born on 9 May, 1970 in Seattle, Washington to parents John Malone and Norma Christie. He was raised in Seattle by his mother. Under the guidance of Mark Morris High School coach Dave Denny, he began playing street ball at a young age. Christie began playing basketball in eighth grade at Cascade Middle School and continued through his freshman and sophomore years at Mark Morris High School. He’d relocated to Longview to live with his father, John Malone, a former Mark Morris track star. Rainier Beach High School in Seattle was his next stop. He led Beach’s varsity boys’ basketball team to their first-ever Washington state championship in 1988, his senior year.He then transferred to Pepperdine University, where he garnered national recognition. He was selected WCC Player of the Year twice while at Pepperdine (1991, 1992).

Christie is married to Jackie, a well- known reality TV star. Couple have two children- Chanted and Douglas Jr. As per reports couple remarry every year on their wedding anniversary.
Professional Career
1993-1994
The Seattle SuperSonics selected Christie 17th overall in the 1992 NBA draught. However, because to contract issues, he never played for the Sonics and was dealt to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Sam Perkins later that season, where his name was spelt mistakenly on his jersey as “Chrisite” in his first game. In Los Angeles, he was employed rarely.
1994-1996
Christie was dealt by the Lakers to the New York Knicks in 1994 for two second-round draught selections. He didn’t play very often.
1996-2000
Christie was moved to the Toronto Raptors in a package with Herb Williams in 1996, this time for Willie Anderson and Victor Alexander. He remained with the Raptors until the end of the 2000 season.
2000-2005
Christie was moved to the Sacramento Kings at the end of the 2000 season in exchange for forward Corliss Williamson. Christie became the Kings’ popular starting shooting guard and grew into one of the league’s top defenders, being named to the NBA All-Defensive Team on several occasions; he was also considered as one of the best three-point shooters at the time.
2005-2014
Christie was sent to the Orlando Magic in 2005 in exchange for Cuttino Mobley and Michael Bradley. He finished his career with the Kings second in total thefts. Christie quickly signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks.Christie was waived by the Dallas Mavericks on November 25, 2005, signifying his likely retirement due to a slow healing surgically repaired left ankle. He had left the team the week before to see his personal physician about his surgically repaired left ankle.Christie attempted a comeback in January 2007, signing a 10-day deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. Christie was named to a team organised by Dennis Rodman in North Korea as part of his “basketball diplomacy” campaign to play an exhibition match against the North Korean Senior National Team to commemorate Kim Jong-Un birthday.
