Biography & Early Life
Deana Carter is an American singer, songwriter, music producer. Deana was born on 4 January, 1966 in Nashville, Tennesssee to parents Fred Carter Jr and Anna Carter. His father was an American guitarist along with being a singer, producer, composer. She did her study in rehabilation therapy and become a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and a Sigma Alpha Epsilon Little sister , also known as “Little Sister of Minerva”. During college time she participated and sang in college functions. In starting of her career she also worked as a bartender at the Back Door Tavern on Kingston Pike.
Career
Her first major break occurred when one of her demo cassettes got the eye of Willie Nelson, who invited her to perform as the show’s lone female soloist at Farm Aid VII in 1994. Did I Shave My Legs for This? was her debut album, published in the UK by Patriot Records in early 1995. The label, however, dissolved soon after the record was released. Carter’s maiden country record, “Strawberry Wine,” achieved No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in 1996. Did I Shave My Legs for This? was a huge hit in North America, despite only preserving three of the original tunes. Carter’s version of “Once Upon a December” was featured on the soundtrack of the 1997 animated film Anastasia. Carter’s sixth single, “Absence of the Heart,” was released in September 1998 as the lead-off song to her second album, Everything’s Gonna Be Alright. Her second album failed to get success on box office. She worked more for several years to get new material out. In 2001 her third album, Father Christmas on Rounder Records was released. Carter signed with Arista Nashville in 2002, and her first single in three years was released. “There’s No Limit,” the lead-off single from her fourth studio album, I’m Just a Girl, was released on March 18, 2003, and became her sixth Top 20 success, peaking at No. 14 in early 2003.
In 2004, Carter signed with independent record label Vanguard Records.In March 2005, she released “(Bleep) Texas,” but it failed to chart and was quickly replaced by “One Day at a Time,” the lead single from her fifth studio album, The Story of My Life. The Chain, Carter’s sixth studio album, was released on October 9, 2007. The Chain was a memorial album to her father that she created as a cover album (who performed guitar on many of the original versions of the covers found on the album). Many of the songs featured duets between the original performers, such as Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson on “Love Is Like a Butterfly” (on “On the Road Again”).
Carter co-wrote “You and Tequila” with Matraca Berg for the album I’m Just a Girl, and Kenny Chesney recorded it on his album Hemingway’s Whiskey in 2010. Grace Potter contributes guest vocals to Chesney’s rendition, which was released as the album’s fourth single in May 2011. It reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 2011 and was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2011 CMA Awards. Carter started her own record label, Little Nugget Records, in 2013. Carter’s seventh studio album, Southern Way of Life, was released on December 2, 2013. Carter’s own record company, Little Nugget Records, re-released Father Christmas in 2013.

Deana is married woman. In year 2018 she was married to Jim McPhail. Before that she was married to Brandon Malon in 2009 and Chris DiHicky in 1995. With Chris she has one son-Grey Hayes Hicky , was born in 2004.
