Darcy Beth Carden is an American actress and comedian. She is most known for her portrayal as Janet on the NBC comedy The Good Place (2016–2020), for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
Darcy Berth Carden was born on 4 January, 1980 in Danville, California. Darcy’s father is Dennis William Mustafa Erokan from Istanbul, Turkey who immigrated to California.Her father acted in local community theater and also founded the the Bay Area music magazine BAM. She has two sisters Miranda, Laney and one brother Will. She was graduated from San Ramon Valley High School and also she did Bachelor of Fine Arts in the theater from Southern Oregon University.
Darcy started her acting career in year 2001 where she appeared in mSeven Hearts, a musical about friends living in San Francisco. She starred in a holiday performance in which the protagonist is irritated because her family is preoccupied with her selfish sister’s wedding instead of keeping the Christmas spirit alive. She began her career at UCB in 2004 and went on to travel with the UCB Touring organisation. By 2010, she was a cast member for The Ride, an interactive play performed on New York City tour buses, and she was using her married surname Carden professionally. Carden starred in and co-created “Terrible Babysitters,” a Web original about two parents looking for a babysitter, in 2013. Carden played Gemma in the Comedy Central comedy series Broad City (2014–2019), which was developed by fellow UCB alumnae Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson and stars fellow UCB alumnae Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson. Carden also appeared in episodes of Inside Amy Schumer (2015), Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2016), and Veep as a guest star (2017).She played Jessica in the critically acclaimed comedy-drama film Other People after small appearances in the parody film iSteve (2013) and the romantic comedy The To Do List (2013). In 2016, Carden joined the NBC comedy series The Good Place, with Kristen Bell and Ted Danson, as Janet, a live virtual assistant. Carden has had a recurring role as Natalie Greer in HBO’s dark comedy-crime series Barry, which also stars Hader, since 2018. She was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2018 and 2019 with her fellow cast members. She has roles in the dark comedy Greener Grass, the romantic comedy Let It Snow, and the drama Bombshell in 2019. She has also starred in the Netflix comedy Bonding and the Adult Swim animated comedy Robot Chicken. Carden had a recurring part on Quibi’s mystery comedy Mapleworth Murders in 2020.
