2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo

A decade or more ago, hybrids were generally associated with economy cars, a way of maximizing fuel efficiency in vehicles that may have been sensible, but were typically uninspiring.

Things are changing. The new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo may not have a name that rolls off the tongue, but it has exceptional power even by Porsche metrics, with 680 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, the latter available at a low 1400 rpm. By comparison, a 2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo produces "only" 550 hp with 567 lb-ft of torque. Power is transmitted through an 8-speed PDK transmission to all 4 wheels with Porsche Traction Management. Performance includes a 0-62 mph time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 193 mph.

The interior is spacious, with seating for 3 in the rear and 425 liters of storage space.

Other features include an active aerodynamic roof spoiler which raises at a speed of 105 mph for better vehicle control, ceramic composite brakes, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, Porsche Torque Vectoring plus differential lock, and 21" alloy wheels.
