2017 Lotus Elise Cup 250

Coming in at 1949 lbs dry weight, the Lotus Elise Cup 250 stays true to company founder Colin Chapman's dictate to "add lightness." The low weight comes by way of incorporating carbon fiber, titanium, and aluminum parts as needed. Other lightweight features include a lithium-ion batter, carbon race seats, and a polycarbonate rear screen. An optional titanium exhaust system will shave an extra 15 lbs from the total.

Combined with the all-alloy intercooled & supercharged 1.8 liter inline-4 putting out 243 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, the car is capable of 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds. While a respectable number, Lotus has always been less about absolute performance statistics and more about a minimalist approach to performance that has both paid dividends in racing and made their cars an absolute pleasure to drive.

Body changes for the Elise Cup 250 include a new lightweight front clam panel with a mesh pattern grille and wider apertures for better cooling, front splitter, bargeboards, rear diffuser, and rear wing. The car also sports unique ultra-ultralightweight forged wheels with 195/50 tires in the front and 225/45 in the rear.
