Though the engine displacement is considerably less, the difference in output is less drastic. The W12 produces 600 hp and 660 lb-ft of torque, while the V8 produces 540 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque.

1930 Bentley Speed Six Blue Train Special by Gurney Nutting

Woolf Barnato was the most prominent of the "Bentley Boys", a group of wealthy British car enthusiasts who in the 1920s made Bentley one of the most prominent names in racing. One of Woolf's most prominent exploits was the Blue Train race, where he claimed that he could beat the Blue Train from Cannes to Calais. He was so far ahead of the train that he continued onto London, crossing the English Channel in a packet steamer, and parking his Speed Six outside the Convervative Club on St. James Street only 4 minutes ahead of the time that the Blue Train arrived at the station in Calais. Though he won a £200 in a bet that he could do it, he was also fined £160 by the French Motor Manufacturer's Association for racing on public roads.

2018 Bentley Continental GT

The design of the new Continental GT has been influenced by the well-received EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept. The changes are evolutionary, but distinctly noticeable. The front wheels have been pushed forward 5 inches. The jewel-like headlight design features transparent internal surfaces with distinct edges reminiscent of cut crystal. A similar design is seen on the taillights. The engine is a 6 liter W12 producing 626 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. That power is transmitted through a dual-clutch 8-speed transmission. 0-62 mph comes up in 3.7 seconds, on to a top speed of 207 mph.

2018 Alfa Romeo 4C Coupe and Spider

While the 4C is a full production car, sales have been fairly limited. Its uncompromising design with no power steering is primarily of interest to sports car purists, and this means that sales are miniscule relative to outwardly similar but more refined cars like the Porsche Boxster. No doubt the exclusivity and purity of the lightweight sports car are part of its appeal.
