Carlsson utilizes the stylish lines of the current generation
Mercedes Benz CLS models (Type C 218) to emphasize the elegance and
sportiness of each individual sedan. The top-of-the-range Carlsson
CK63 RS, based on the CLS 63 AMG, will make an exclusive appearance
with the full Carlsson performance package at the 82nd International
Auto-Salon in Geneva (Hall 5, Stand 5130).
Noise, Power and Torque to the
Max!
The potential of the
Mercedes Benz CLS 63 AMG V8-Biturbo with the added performance
package is evident in the performance of the most recent release by
Carlsson Autotechnik. While the AMG eight-cylinder engine with a
cylinder capacity of 5.461 cm already produces 557 BHP (410 kW) at
5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 800 Nm at 2,000 rpm, Carlsson
engineers’ fine-tuning increased its power to 652 BHP (480 kW). With
an engine speed of 2,000 – 4,500 rpm, the maximum torque lies at
1,000 Newton-meters. To maintain the stability of the AMG SPEEDSHIFT
7-speed sports gearbox with this power output, the Carlsson
engineers installed an additional transmission oil cooling system.
This high-torque power increase allows the Carlsson CK63 RS to
accelerate from zero to sixty in 4.1 seconds. A tailor-made,
multi-flow, complete stainless steel exhaust system with downpipes,
metal catalysts and front and rear silencers supports the power
enhancement and is also fitted with an exhaust damper system which
can be controlled manually from the driving seat, depending on the
number of valves, either for a quieter sound than the standard
exhaust or for Carlsson’s typical deep, gritty sound at any engine
speed.

the Carlsson CK63 RS meets every challenge
The CLS already thrills
fans with its direct handling in the AMG Performance Package
specification model. Carlsson has modified the vehicle at the front
axle to make the sedan even more agile. The AMG Ride Control sports
suspension springs at the front axle have been replaced with
Carlsson springs with more progressive spring characteristics, also
lowering the vehicle by 30 millimeters. The one-piece, 1/10-type
Carlsson wheels in a stylish star design with single and double
spokes embellish the wheel housing of the Carlsson sports sedan,
with 9 x 20” rims at the front and 10.5 x 20” at the drive axle. The
light metal rims are available in the high-quality “Titanium
Edition”, “Graphite Edition” and “Brilliant Edition” surface
finishes.
The Carlsson automobile
engineers have personalized the CLS’s coupé-style silhouette with
aerodynamic components such as a front spoiler and the RS front
spoiler lip, which is made of real carbon. In addition, black
stainless steel grille inserts enhance the air inlets. The rear
spoiler, together with the rear apron insert and the integrated
Carlsson RS rear diffuser made from real carbon provide additional
down force and more stable road handling, even at high speeds.
Business Class with a Lounge Feel
The modifications are
most effective inside the car, with the Carlsson master-saddlers at
last able to show off their traditional hand-craftsmanship using the
finest materials, such as leather, the finest Alcantara, carbon
fiber, natural woods and other exclusive natural materials. The
uncompromising quality requirements of the in-house saddlery are
underpinned by the material selection for the Carlsson SIGNATURE
LINE with full leather interior and its first class finish, which is
used in the CK63 RS. A combination of brown Alcantara and
mocha-brown Carlsson NAPPA EXCLUSIVE leather adorns the interior.
The leather used is wet-dyed, providing the feeling of a fine
leather glove and, with a material thickness of 1 to 1.4
millimeters, is also particularly durable. The complex tanning
process retains the pores of the hides, preventing the oft-maligned
build-up. Even in winter, this natural material adapts immediately
to your individual body temperature.
To make mobile Internet
access possible at any time, Carlsson has expanded the multi-media
equipment to include a high-speed access system. The Viprinet
Multichannel VPN Router 500 guarantees a completely stable
high-speed Internet connection, even while driving – and even at
high speeds. To achieve this the router combines up to four UMTS
networks from various network providers to provide broadband access
with high availability. Even if one or more connections temporarily
have no reception, the other networks maintain the data connection
until full reception can be restored.
The interior modification for the Carlsson CK63 RS is rounded off
with components such as Carlsson foot mats, door sill panels with
blue, illuminated Carlsson lettering and door-locking pins made from
polished aluminum.
With the Carlsson CK63
RS presented in Geneva, car manufacturer Carlsson has once again
proven its flair for the Mercedes Benz design language. The CLS from
Carlsson has become a unique individualist. Of course, the
three-year Carlsson factory warranty applies for all tuned
components, up to 100,000 kilometers (60,000 miles).
