2011 Ferrari 599 GTO Pearl White

"GTO" is a special name for Ferrari, with the 250 GTO being the most revered Ferrari, as well as one of the most valuable cars in the world. The later 288 GTO was for a time the world's fastest production car, and the fastest Ferrari ever until the appearance of the F40. When the 599 GTO appeared, Ferrari claimed it was their fastest road car ever.

The 599 GTO is basically a road-going version of the 599XX race car. Compared to the 599 GTB Fiorano, the GTO weighs about 220 lbs less through extensive weight cutting measures, such as thinner gauge aluminum, and thinner glass. It also produces an additional 49 hp over the GTB Fiorano.

This particular car features special order Pearl White pain along with custom Red and Black 20" wheels. Options included carbon fiber doorsill covers and dash insert, and a Virtual Race Engineer vehicle performance monitor.

This car will be sold by Mecum Auctions in Monterey, California on August 18-20, 2016, right before the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on August 21.

Like its legendary progenitors—the 250 GTO and the 288 GTO—the 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO was the fastest road-legal Ferrari of its time, with a 0 to 60 score of 3.35 seconds and a top speed of 208 MPH. Heady stuff, and with good reason, because while the 599 GTO was not built to homologate a racing machine, it was based on one: the 720 HP track-purposed 599XX. Using the 599XX’s crankshaft, intake and exhaust systems, freshly designed pistons and connecting rods and 11.9:1 compression versus the GTB’s 11.2:1 ratio, the GTO’s 6.0L V-12 engine produces 661 HP at a screaming 8,250 RPM, sending it through the paddle-shifted 6-speed F1 Superfast transmission. Wider Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, stiffer springs, a larger-diameter rear sway bar, quicker steering and improved magnetorheological shock absorbers combine with the Manettino-controlled F1 suspension system for cornering speeds that necessitate the GTO’S huge carbon-ceramic Brembo disc brakes, the first on a road Ferrari. Ferrari produced just 599 2011 GTO coupes, one of which is offered here in special-order Pearl White paint with red center stripe and mirrors and a red leather interior with Alcantara accents. Serial number 176093 was delivered new with a copious amount of options that included carbon-fiber doorsill covers and dash insert, boot compartment and front valence, Virtual Race Engineer vehicle performance monitor, aluminum color brake calipers and, on the engine front cover, the autographs of the engineers who built the car. This unique 599 GTO is presently fitted custom red-on-black 20-inch wheels and Pirello P-Zero tires; the original wheels and tires are also included. The fastest, most powerful and agile road Ferrari to its time, the 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO is a worthy inheritor of the GTO designation.
