Charger, Road Runner, and Super Bee
Our review: Great history of the Charger, Road Runner and Super
Bee, easily some of the most pathbreaking cars of their era. Includes the
story behind the amazing Dodge Daytona and Plymouth Superbird. Re the
Daytona: "Final testing was done at the Chelsea, Michigan, test track
where Charlie Glotzbach reached a speed of 193 mph before the Hemi blew apart."
To give some kind of comparison, the highest top speed on a European car of this
era was the very expensive Ferrari Daytona at 173 mph. The Daytona and
Superbird were very special cars, and still unique from a Detroit manufacturer.
Great pics!
