Starting Oct. 31, Ford Motor Company will put up for bid on eBay the Dearborn Deuce Convertible™ to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This model, painted in a unique blue tone, is a true collector’s item signed by Edsel B. Ford II and valued at more than $100,000.

“This is a magnificent vehicle,” said Edsel Ford, great-grandson of Henry Ford and a member of Ford’s Board of Directors. “ We are grateful to Hot Rods & Horsepower for donating the vehicle to us so we can continue to help the effort to find a cure for diabetes, which affects thousands of children.”

Ford is a longtime supporter of JDRF through a variety of fund-raising efforts. “ We are really excited about this opportunity,” said Karen Breen , executive director of JDRF’s Metro Detroit & Southeast Michigan Chapter. “Through the Ford Global Walk, Cruisin’ Legends and other activities, Ford Motor Company has been a dedicated partner of JDRF for more than 20 years.”

The Dearborn Deuce ragtop will be a star of the SEMA Show in Las Vegas next month, where attendees will be able to access the eBay listing and place a bid on the hot rod using a kiosk in the Ford Motor Company display area. More than 100,000 trade professionals attend the Specialty Equipment Market Association’s showcase of technology, trends and products for the auto accessories industry.

Hot Rods & Horsepower, LLC of Branford, Conn., built the 2005 model of the Dearborn Deuce Convertible™, which it unveiled at Ford Cruisin’ Legends in Birmingham, Mich., during the 11 th annual Woodward Dream Cruise.

The head-turner is powered by a Ford 302 cubic inch V8 that provides 340 HP over a broad torque range. This engine is equipped with aluminum GT40 heads a hydraulic roller camshaft, and has a 9:1 compression ratio. The introduction of the first reproduction 1932 all-steel roadster continues Ford’s tradition of industry firsts, offering:

a fully-integrated and completely concealed modern convertible top

  • electric side windows

  • a 2½” deeper cockpit to increase leg room

  • expanded trunk capacity

  • 3½” longer doors for easier entry and exit

  • a fully reinforced superstructure with integrated wire channels

  • …all without compromising the beauty and stock outer dimensions of Ford’s original design.
